Snap Card Game Rules

A fun game for children and adults to play.

Snap can be played with 2 to 4 players
using a standard deck of cards

The Setup
Decide on a dealer at random. The dealer mixes up the cards and distributes them as equal as they can to everyone playing. It is ok if some people have more cards than other people.

Everyone puts their cards, facing downward, in a stack in front of them.

The Game
The person on the dealer left goes first and play will next move clockwise.

On their turn, everyone flips over the first card from their downward facing stack. Once someone flips over a card that is identical to a card already turned up on someone else’s stack, everyone races to call "Snap!" first. The person who calls it first wins all stacks and puts them to the underside of their downward facing stack.

After moving the card from their downward facing stack to their face up stack, everyone should do this by flipping their card away from them self. This makes certain that there is no disadvantage of you seeing the card before your opponents has a chance to see it. (The person should additionally flip the card fast, so that they do not give them self a drawback.)

If 2 people say it at the identical time, the 2 stacks are put in the middle of the table and pooled into an upward facing Pot with 1 of the 2 identical cards on top. The play will then carry on where it was before the tie.

Once someone flips over a card that is identical to the card on the top of the Pot, everyone races to call "Pot!" first. The person who said it first will win the Pot and the identical stack. If there is an additional tie, the identical stack is then added to the Pot.

If there is a Error
If someone calls "Snap!" when there is not identical cards, or they put their hand on the top of the stack when there is not a match, they have to give their top card to the person whose turn it is. If someone makes a error when it is their turn, they have to hand over their top card to the person sitting at their right.

Winning
The play carries on until someone wins all the cards that person is the winner of the game.

NOTE: It is likely that there will be some cards remaining in the Pot once all the cards have been picked up. If this occurs, the winner will be the person who has all of the cards that are not stuck in the Pot.
