I first played Imperia 13 with my son to get him away from video games for awhile. It has really cool looking characters, and he absolutely loves doing all of the attacks. It has a quick start version, which is great for the younger kids, but after you learn the rules, you can really develop a stratgey. My son likes it because he tests out all of his different playing strategies, and wins a different way each time.
This game is also great for parents to work on addition/subtraction, in a non-school like way. The adding and subtracting health points is a part of the game, so its great because its not sitting there doing the same thing each time!

I think this game was specifically developed for kids who like video games, but this is not violent or have gory attacks. It really is a great way to get your kids to use their imagination and be creative!
ages: 10 and up for quickstart version
