Instructions for the game of phat
1.Choose teams and have the partners sit across from each other at the table. 2.Hand out the deck of cards, beginning with the player on the dealer’s left; each player should end up with 13 cards. 3.The player to the dealer’s left starts the game by laying down a card. Being able to lead has its benefit because the card led designates trump for that round. You have to stick to the same suit when you can. The highest card of the suit led wins that round. If you can’t stick to the same suit, you can either play a different suit or play a trump card. The highest trump will take the trick. In either case, the winner will lead the next card. 4.You score points whenever you take any tricks by writing them on paper while you play. Then again, not every trick is going to be worth points as their importance is based exclusively on which cards are within the sets. 10’s will be worth ten points, A’s will be worth four points, K’s are three points, Q’s are two points and J’s are worth one point. You could also get eighteen points or ten points for the 9 or 5 of trump, in that order. All the other 9’s and 5’s will be worth their face value. Another eight points is achievable for the team that gets the bulk of the points for that hand. 5.Carry on playing as explained, changing the deal to the person on the left of the last dealer for the rest of the rounds. 6.The winner of the game is the first team that gets 121 points.
